VoiceThread

CTE Resources

IMPORTANT:  Be sure to use Firefox to create VoiceThread links in Blackboard.  We are currently having an issue with the Blackboard integration working with Chrome and Edge.  Attempting to use Chrome or Edge to add a VoiceThread to a Blackboard course will result in being sent back to the My Blackboard page without the VoiceThread being added.  All is well when using Firefox.

Note that VoiceThread is now added to Coursework using the Build Content button rather than the Tools button.  Some resources may show using Tools to add VoiceThread to a course.  Use Build Content instead.

Embedding Films on Demand into Blackboard option 1: using Mashup

To embed videos from Films on Demand.

Go to Blackboard and where you would like to embed the video.

Click Build Content and select Films on Demand Video from under MashupsFOD mashup optionMashup

Then search for the title of the video you would like to embed. Click 'Select' under the video you are using. FOD Blackboard mashup search

On the next screen you can:

  • Change the Name of the item. By default it will fill in the name of the video. If you choose to change this, we recommend including the name in the Description box so students can search for the video in Films on Demand in case something goes wrong with the embedding.
  • Other text you may want in the description box could be an explanation for why you would like people to view the video, instructions for assignments, etc.
  • Under 'View' select 'Embed Video'
  • We do not recommend selecting the Show Films on Demand URL because this URL does not include the proxy which allows for off-campus access.
  • Make any other Blackboard options selections you like.
  • Click Submit on the lower right to finish.
