Library mission

The mission of the library is to provide a facility, services, and resources which support the academic needs of Central Penn College (the students, the faculty, and the staff).

  • The library will further enhance the college experience for students. Providing access to students and an environment for study.
  • The library will improve the overall academic integrity of the college, while supporting the academic programs with adequate resources.
  • The library will provide the Central Penn College community with information literacy tools and knowledge to use while at Central Penn and beyond.

Services

Individualized Research Help

Come to the library (or contact us another way) if you need help:

  • choosing a topic
  • researching
  • finding sources
  • citing your sources (using APA)
  • avoiding plagiarism

Study Space

In our library, you will find the following types of spaces:

  • large tables for collaborate group work
  • individual study desks
  • computers

Course Textbooks

If you haven't received the textbooks you ordered yet, you can check with the library to see if we have a copy. **NOTE: The library does NOT have a copy of every textbook.** Borrowing a textbook:

  • Bring your student ID
  • The book must stay in the library
  • You can use it for up to 2 hours at a time

Materials

The library has many items that you can borrow:

  • educational books
  • novels
  • DVDs (both educational and fun movies/TV shows)
  • video games
  • board games
  • e-books
  • digital films that stream to your device
  • laptops

Books, Materials, & Equipment

The Charles "T." Jones Leadership Library has millions of items available to Central Penn patrons. Items that can be found in the library are listed in our online catalog. This includes books, ebooks, DVDs, and more. If our Summerdale location is inconvenient for you, many of our items can be mailed to you. See our Policies page for details. Use this form to request items. 

Not sitting on the shelves of the Library are the items available through the Library's online resources. This includes databases from Ebsco, Gale, Proquest, and more. Visit our online resources page for more information and access, which will require logging in with your single sign-on credentials.

If the Charles "T." Jones Leadership Library does not have what you are looking for we can attempt to borrow it from one of the over 2,500 libraries that participate in the AccessPA program. Please keep in mind that requests will need to be processed and mailed from locations across the state. Normal delivery time is between 7 to 14 days, and the amount of time you may borrow the item is up to the lending library. Use the same form as above to request items, including articles through interlibrary loan.

The Library also has a copier, printer, and scanner for students to use in a manner consistent with copyright regulations. Printing and copying for patrons not affiliated with Central Penn College is 20¢/page.  In addition to the 15 hard-wired computer stations, the Central Penn College Education Foundation has generously donated laptops that can be checked out by students. The Library is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday,  & Friday from 10AM - 5PM and Wednesday from 1PM - 8PM.

If you need help from the librarian or need to access the library resources outside of those hours let us know!

Remember the Learning Hub is also open with lots of great faculty and staff willing to help with tutoring, advising, and general questions.

Hours of operation:

Since the Legal Library is also used as a classroom, its hours of access vary from term to term. Materials in this collection do not circulate.

The resource room doubles as a meeting space. The resource room is always open when the Lancaster Center building is open (as long as meetings are not taking place).
