Embedding Library Content in Bb

Most of the time a URL copied from the address bar of your browser will not work to retrieve the item you are trying to access. To save links to resources copy the links from the tools below and paste into a doc, then save the doc as a pdf file [Word does something to links that conflict with authentication methods, so opening a link from a doc will result in a Blackboard error screen].

Credo - use Page Link located at the top right of the page

Ebook Central -  To share a link to the entire Book

or to go to a particular page of the book, go to the page where you would like people to start reading and click the link icon at the top

Ebsco - select permalink from the tools menu located on the right side of the screen, and copy the link from the box that opens up

Gale/Opposing Viewpoints - Use 'Get Link'

Kanopy - Click Share, underneath the video screen and then copy the 'Share link'

Embedding Films on Demand into Blackboard option 1: using Mashup

To embed videos from Films on Demand.

Go to Blackboard and where you would like to embed the video.

Click Build Content and select Films on Demand Video from under MashupsFOD mashup optionMashup

Then search for the title of the video you would like to embed. Click 'Select' under the video you are using. FOD Blackboard mashup search

On the next screen you can:

  • Change the Name of the item. By default it will fill in the name of the video. If you choose to change this, we recommend including the name in the Description box so students can search for the video in Films on Demand in case something goes wrong with the embedding.
  • Other text you may want in the description box could be an explanation for why you would like people to view the video, instructions for assignments, etc.
  • Under 'View' select 'Embed Video'
  • We do not recommend selecting the Show Films on Demand URL because this URL does not include the proxy which allows for off-campus access.
  • Make any other Blackboard options selections you like.
  • Click Submit on the lower right to finish.
