You should start thinking about your internship early in your academic program. Ideally, an internship will allow you to experience what it would be like to be employed in your chosen field, so think about not only what type of work you wish to do but what type of company or organization you wish to work for.
Internship is completed towards the end of your program, so that you have the advantage of having completed most or all of your coursework prior to doing your internship. Internship can be completed after 75% of coursework (45 credits for Associate Degree and 90 for Bachelor Degree).
Early internship approval can be considered prior to 75% completion if the student has at least a 3.0GPA and has been offered an internship. Early internships must be reviewed and approved by the Program Director.
Most internships require 180 hours at the internship site and should be completed within the 11 weeks of a Central Penn term. If a student is unable to complete their internship within that time frame, they must contact and work with the internship coordinator on a solution.
